Fostering community, creativity, and joy for seniors in Rancho Cucamonga.

About Me

My name is Kaavya Kaka

Hi, I’m Kaavya Kaka, a student driven by a passion for service and a goal to become a neonatologist. My journey began with a personal experience: my grandfather's dementia. I saw how art and music brought him joy despite his diagnosis, which inspired me to found

Crafted with Care.

My mission is to create a space where seniors feel seen and cared for and to build a bridge between the youth and the elderly in Rancho Cucamonga. I believe art is a universal language that can bring people together, regardless of generational differences. The greatest success for me is witnessing the happiness and emotional well-being of the seniors we work with.

Beyond this project, I am actively involved in my community. As the Head of Fundraising for Pomona Valley Hospital, I’ve helped raise over $30K. I also lead the Homelessness Committee for the Healthy RC Youth Council, where I've presented policy proposals to the City Council. My scientific pursuits include research on placental glucocorticoid homeostasis and authoring a review article on hypoxia-inducible factors, both submitted for publication.

I am committed to making a difference through both my creative and scientific endeavors, always seeking to foster connections and bring joy to those around me.

My Mission

To create a bridge between the youth and the elderly in Rancho Cucamonga, allowing students to gain valuable collaborative skills, while seniors impart their knowledge and experiences.
Our ultimate vision is to cultivate happiness and emotional well-being through creative expression and shared wisdom.

My Research

Placental Glucocorticoid Homeostasis Dysregulation in Pregnancies Complicated with Maternal Diabetes:

Investigated the connection between maternal diabetes, fetal macrosomia, and glucocorticoid levels. Analyzed placental cells using advanced lab techniques like ELISA and Western Blot to study glucocorticoid receptors and protein levels. Research discovered that glucocorticoid signaling is impaired in mothers with diabetes and leads to more side effects in pre-gestational diabetics. Presented findings to PhD faculty at a symposium, and the research is slated for publication.

Hypoxia-inducible factors and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy:

Kaavya authored a review article of over 4,000 words on Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) in Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). This article has been submitted for publication in the Journal of Student Research (JSR).
